Food ingredients have to pass through the oral, gastric and intestinal tract into the blood, to be transported to the body cells, to penetrate into the cells and to unfold their effect there. We measure individual steps along this path and quantitatively simulate the transport routes. In cell-based experiments, we determine the probable effects.

Under certain circumstances, active ingredients in cosmetics can pass through the skin into the lower layers of the skin or even into the bloodstream.
